Life's little quirks

Published on

It was a busy day. I was just leaving for the market and had a zillion things lined up. My daughter who was studying abroad called me and, of course, I attended to her call. After speaking for about 8 minutes, I told her to be on hold as I had to leave and get on with the jobs on hand. I began talking to the maid, giving instructions, shutting off the stove, watering the plants, pasting a post-it note on the refrigerator. Then, grabbed the car keys and drove off.

Suddenly after driving for about 6 minutes, I heard my daughter's voice emanating from my handbag. "Mom", she said "are you there?"

I was shaken from a reverie and couldn't contain my embarrassment as I realized that she was on hold all the time. Lost in my thoughts, I had completely forgotten....

Woah. Epic. Isn't it? I apologized to my girl and we both had a good laugh.
